My current FTP server was used by several small businesses that paid a small amount for off site storage. Over the past two years those businesses either found a professional or closed shop. The last business pulled out last week leaving my server idle. The specs are as follows:

933mhzX2 P3
650GB storage space on various IDE drives
1GB ECC ram
(G6)BPFTPS 2.30
Windows XPSP2 Pro
Business Cable ISP with 512k/4mb

What are the uses for this unit? I have a small web server in the making on another dual P3 system and want to keep the hard drives and hardware in the current ftp server since it?s built in a file server case. What would be the best course of action to facilitate this server? Just looking for opinions or ideas, mainly looking for a purpose rather than to make money.

the only uses i can think of for this type of machine are not legal in the us or its territories.

I've had people tell me this locally but I don't want to go in that direction.

http space + ftp space + email service



go see the AT free hosting thread and see what all you get from that service. You could use that as a model.
