What to do

Alright...so here at Drexel, a 4 year degree consists of a 5 year program, with 3 6-month co-ops in the middle 3 years. This fall, I start my third co-op.

Last year, I worked in Drexel's IRT department, doing .NET web development. In reality I did VERY little work(there was none assigned), but it was laid back, they weren't strict on my hours, and it was right on campus. Drexel offered me a 20% raise if I stay this coming fall. However, I also got an offer from another company, which looks more interesting(also .NET but in different ways/more advanced). Its a small company, and also looks pretty laid back. They offered me about 85% of what Drexel offered me.

So basically, take the higher paying job that I know is a breeze(if not intellectually stimulating), or take the lower paying job that has potential to be much more interesting/rewarding.

Thoughts?

Perhaps if you popped in the actual wages, it would be a bit more enlightening?

I'd go with the one where I would learn and help me get a job in the industry more easily unless i was REALLY hard up for money.

$520/week vs $600/week. Also keep in mind with the Drexel job I don't have to pay any travel expenses, as I walk to work.

Another thing to keep in mind, I work part time at Drexel while I'm in classes. Its a GREAT part time job, $11.50/hr, I make my own schedule, go in between classes, etc. I wouldn't want to lose that for next Spring.

the money doesn't mean much for a 6 month co-op. which one will get you the best experience, and get you a better job later

I think you should go with the job where you'll actually learn something and be productive. You're still young, money will come later with experience. Plus it's not that much of a difference salarywise, imo.

Do you even have to think about this one?

DEFINITELY go for the one with more potential. From what you say, you only lose 15% of pay but think of all the stuff you will be doing. It will look nice on your resume for future jobs. You don't want to sit at a future interview saying 'Well, I didn't really do anything at my previous job...'

I'd say go for the more interesting job. Its a short gig, so the wage difference isn't going to have a monumental effect on your life . . . but the experience difference might.
