ok im totally confused on what i should do

i just recieved the oppertunity at a job base 30k-40k as a Security Operator Specialist and Network Troubleshooting

yea most would be excited about this..but i really want to go to FSU and complete my MIS degree and go on from there

the company pays full tuition (if your FT) but being FT and trying to complete a BS will take for everrrrrrrrrrrrrr

im only 20 years old with a lot going for me (not trying to brag) but i was wondering if any you IT guys had any advice to give me?

note this would be a huge pay increase i avg about 12k a year now at the lovely home depot and am ready to leave that place yet if i go to FSU this company is not located there as HD is therefore im out of a job

Getting tuition paid, getting real work experience while going to school and being paid a good salary sounds good to me. The longer you take in school, the more experience you'd have when you graduate.

Or the other view is don't take the job, go to school. Finish fast and look around. Employers will say, hmmm, no experience? What was your prior job's salary? hmmm.. We can only offer you 24K if we decide you're the one we want.

DO IT!

Work hard for that while and get it done. Not having the student loans and having a job while and after college is a great deal!

i have been doing internship..mainly to get experience under my belt...yet its through my school so i cannot get paid. I am currently working on a surveillance project with an adminitrator of a local doctors office whom we'll impliment terminal services or a web base application to where the cameras can be view 24/7

i have also done some internship at the local highschools workign with the students and their Cisco programs and pc repair programs and a little programming yet...since it was a high school i couldnt get paid

im just getting mixed feelings from different people some are saying snag that job up others are saying your only young once go finish school and then worry about work......they were right ....the real world really sucks

It depends on what you want to do later. If you want to work in the real world, take the job and spend forever getting a degree. Don't worry about the time. Yes, you can still party.

If you want to work in the academic field (teaching IT, or research) then do school.

You know how much the computer world changes in 4 years? If you're out of the loop that long in school, you'll be left behind. Much better to get a job and get your school on the side.

BTW, if you take that job and do well at it, after a while you may be able to work out a deal with them that you can spend more time at school and less at work.

update: i wound up getting the job. the company will pay full tuition..and well im just going to go to FIT since its local anyway. its an expensive school but hey they are paying for it 🙂 thanks for the advice

take the job quick..don't wait..
a lot of people are out of jobs
take it..it's going to be tough to do both school and work at the same time
but it's gonig to be worth it..i would do it

Congrats!! That's the way to go for sure.... I f*cked up when I was in your shoes. I had an internship with Procter and Gamble one summer, and they offered a full time job to me at the end of the summer. I told them that I wanted to finish my bachelor's degree. After I finished it, they couldn't give me a job. Sucked.
