Long story short, I built a mid-tier gaming rig for a friend of mine about a year and a half ago (same time the Radeon 7850's came out). He has this connected to his 72" lcd TV. I haven't seen him in about a year since I moved out of the city, but I'll be hanging out with him this weekend and plan on doing a fresh install, along with making some tweaks on the CPU side as he plans on picking up BF4.
His Rig:
Phenom x4 960T
CPU HSF - Zalman CNPS5X performa 92mm (this was on sale for $14 at the time, not ideal but better than stock) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118128
Asus M5 A97 - http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A97/
8GB RAM
Radeon 7850 2GB
500GB HDD
500W PSU
Win 7 x64
My questions:
-For his CPU, would it be better to try unlocking this to a 6 core, or just to overclock it a bit? I'm afraid that his HSF will badly limit his OC. Which do you think would be better for BF4?
-What type of framerate should he expect with his setup? I'm thinking he could get away with high settings, medium FXAA, no blur. Not sure if HBAO makes a big difference IQ wise?
