What to do with the bone in the middle of a . . .

I don't like to waste food - well, a 'bone' ain't food, but I rmember my mom using the bones' marrow to cook from beef base to cook stew/soup with - any ideas?
 
you may be able make stock with it, though i'm sure you'd need more than one piece, and i don't nkow how well cooked works (flavours drained?)
