what to do with that end piece on a loaf of bread?

I leave them in there. I'll actually reach around the front end piece and grab the normal slices from behind. Usually my room mates will eat it after a few days. Otherwise, if I get through a loaf and end up with 2 bread pieces, I go feed ducks/geese.

I don't like to eat them, do they keep the other pieces fresher by adding one more layer of protection, or can I just throw them away?

the b/f wont eat the end slices of bread.

So, I let them get dry and then I brush them lightly with olive oil and sprinkly garlic powder on the before toasting them. Cube them up and they are yummy croutons!

🙂

Thats the BEST piece ever for Toast.

People who throw out the heel of bread, and peel their apples are lamebrains 😛
