What to do with PS3 that I'm selling?

I've decided to sell my PS3 ... it's just not what I was expecting. Question: I have a PSN account, a game I bought there and some demos installed. How do I clean up the machine/wipe the HD so that it is as it was when brand new? There is an option under "System Settings" to "Restore PS3 System". Will this option restore it to the original firmware even though I have since upgraded it?

Thanks ...

I think there is a format option as well. I'm not home so I can't check.

There is ... but to what extent will the system be affected by a reformat? My goal is to restore the unit to (as close to) when I purchased it.

There should be an option to remove your account information as well as format the drive.

If you format the drive, all data will be wiped clean including all your personal account info and games/saves. It will remain the firmware it is currently though. If downgrading firmware was as simple as reformatting your drive then the hacking community wouldn't have such a hard time downgrading their systems ;)

You may ...

I was hoping for a robust media player (aka a pseudo HTPC) while my wife wanted a BRD player. It sucks as a media player (IMHO) but is great at being a BRD player as well as up-converting std DVDs.

Thanks all for your advice ...

PSN accounts may be active on up to 5 systems at a time. If you never plan on purchasing a PS3 again just leave it so whoever buys the system may play the games. If you think you might get another in the future you'll need to deactivate the system so it doesn't count towards your 5 machine limit.

I would recommend to deactivate your PSN account before selling.

Reformatting alone will not deactivate the PSN account. It may not be a big deal, and as I4AT said, you do get 5 activations up at a time, but for me, I had my activations on different friends systems and when I needed another activation, I had to go track down who had my PSN activated on their systems and it became a little hassle.
