I don't even own a vcr anymore but I still have a few tapes laying around.

swingers, the killer, akira, highlander, transformers, the zero effect, princess bride, etc.

right now I think I'm just going to donate them to goodwill or something. Other suggestions? I suppose there is ebay, but for the few bucks I'd get, I'd rather donate.

Donate, they're pretty much worthless but the thrift shop might get a buck o five for the lot.

That would be my suggestion. For those of us without a Tivo, a VCR is still king when your out of the house and want to record a show.

VCR's are still king (in my opinion) for keeping things stored on tangible media. Hell, I have hours upon hours of Headbangers ball from the late 80's and early 90's that still play and look just fine.

I'm transferring all my good VHS stuff (no not porn) to DVD format... haven't burned them yet but have them encoded... that's what big harddrives were for. ;) That and porn.

we have a number of super high quality tapes (they weigh easily double what a modern tape weighs) from the 80's that are completely trashed. they've been watched maybe 10 times. we recorded "The Prisoner" when PBS ran it, way back in the day. we had to throw them away. magnetic media just doesn't last forever.
