i'm cleaning out my old room at my parents' house and i came across my old magazines. i've got 9 full years ('98-'06) of Astronomy magazine and who knows how many old GamePros (probably '94-'00). i dont see much value in the gamepros and some of the early issues are probably pretty beat up, so i'm inclined to pitch them. but the Astronomy's are in pretty good condition and the material doesnt age quite as much. is there any place that buys back issues? i checked ebay, but doesnt look like they sell unless they're really old (60s and 70s). or should i just donate them to the local library?

Recycle them. Some towns have recycling credit programs where if you attain a certain weight of recyclables you get some tax credit or something. Even if you don't get any credit for them you should still recycle anyhow. :p

If you have a Half Price books in your city...or a similar store that sells used books, cd's and magazines...they might purchase them. I doubt you'd get much for them...but they might give you something. Otherwise, i'd say donate to the library, as you said.

a) see if there's an Astronomy club near you that you can donate them to.

b) Ask Astronomy teacher at local jr college if they want them, or know of any students that might.

c) See if an old folks' home by you wants them.

d) donate them to your local library.

Well, you could do like my mom did to me and simply toss them all.

When we had to move my dad out I missed the plane getting home. Got in a whole day late and they had cleaned out most of the house already. Mother had found about 100+ magazines in my room and trashed the whole collection. (Granted, they were Hustlers and Barely Legals, but still.)

I lost a lot of money that day. I had many complete years from the mid to late 90's, and plenty from 2000 through 2003. Also had several from the 80's and one classic 70's issue.
I stopped trying to collect them after that. I still wish I had some of the older ones, in good condition they might actually have been worth something.
I also rather enjoy looking at the 80's style "landing strip" which was common in Hustler and Penthouse at the time. Playboy was still "thick & full" back then.

Interesting side note: Barely Legal is now 14 years old. In a few more years they'll be able to feature girls who were not even alive when the magazine started.

bury them in a time capsule. Create a map with directions on where to find them. Hide the map inside the Lincoln memorial in DC.
