what to do with old computer equipment

I think its too slow for any of these parts to be usable.

ebay them?
try to sell in classifieds?
i'm thinking about just taking them to a computer waste place to get it handled properly...

what do you all think?

What I would do is try to piece 2gether a whole system out of old things maybe if you have enough between the 2? Then donate to either a local church / charity and you have a great tax deduction! Don't put an OS on but long as it turns on most places will take it might not give you a million for it but better than just tossing it out.

I would buy them for cheap...
that's the type of stuff we can use @ my place for order entry PC's (telnet sessions)
I love finding good used parts like that.

That or a MP3 music server. The Celeron 500 is plenty fast for that. My old media PC (before it hit the dust) was a Celeron 500 and it played DivX too but honestly the latest and greatest DivX was starting to lag seriously. All these TopGear episodes killed it. 😛

i put together an old system for use in my garage - probably going to be the start of my Mame project as bloinkXP suggested. it's got DIALUP too! :Q

i actually took a pic of it last night but didn't want to post it. 😱

firewall/router/fileserver

web/email/typing PC

playbox to learn/use linux (probably need more ram to make it unfrustrating though)

OC the 500C and you have a passable w9x gaming computer (you can pick up a voodoo2 card for $10)

Add a hard drive and a hardware mpeg encoder, and you might have a passable htpc (maybe not; they are pretty slow for that)

eBay parts that can be eBayed and junk the rest. I think there are special places where you can bring your system to get it junked.
