I've tried quite a few things to get me to sleep on the local time but I would wake up like at 2AM-3AM with just 2-3 hours of sleep.

I've tried some things but nothing works!
1. hot shower + drink warm milk before going to bed
2. 3mg melatonin tablet 1 hour before going to bed
3. exhausting sex

Nothing works for me. I usually just deal with it and recover over the course of a few days.

I never get Jet lag. Even on those 14 hour trips. I find the secret is to just never sleep on the plane, and when you get there, just dont sleep until at least 7 pm. You'll instantly adjust.

Close to what I do. It's important not to go to sleep until 9-10PM at your destination.

But I always end up taking cat naps on the plane....and I can't help it especially when they stuff you with good food in first class cabin.

if you're up, don't force yourself to go to sleep. eventually your body will tell you when you need sleep. start reading a book or look at porn.

But then that would be about the time that I have to start packing again and fly out 15-20 hours to another project.

.......I know, my body is not meant for the current job I have.

I would try taking the melatonin a little closer to when you're trying to fall asleep. When I take it (almost nightly) I find it has a limited window of effect...if I'm still awake about 30-40 minutes after I take it then it's not going to do anything and I have to take another. Rare but happens sometimes (usually when I'm at a hotel w a crappy bed). Also, you can take more than 3mg safely.

I even tried the cutting method...bought bottle at 3mg/tablet and physically cut the tablet to vary the dosing.

First night = 3mg + 1.5 mg (1/2 cut tablet)
2nd night = 3mg
3rd night = 1.5mg (1/2 cut)

Hang around with Scarlett Johansson.

At 2AM in the morning?

If you had seen Lost in Translation that wouldn't have gone over your head.

Need to rent it.

The only one that appreciates me wide awake at 2AM is my cat. She goes "ooohh he's awake, time to play!.........or somebody to feed me."

Try 6mg and, again, take it right before bed...not 1 hour. People have taken well more than that for well longer. Couple drinks before bed usually helps me as well.

This is the answer. It fixes it immediately and you suffer no down time the following day.

Taking drugs to fix this is incredibly stupid

Melatonin is hardly a drug. It's a naturally occurring hormone.

Here are some chemical things you can try for a day or two:

1. Dramamine antinausea medication.
2. Nyquil
3. Benadryl antihistamine
4. Alcohol - if you don't have to work the next day

Usually you'll get used to it within 2-3 days maximum.

Whenever we travel to India (10.5 hours time difference), toughing it out works the best.

The sex couldnt have been that exhausting if it didnt make you tired.

Are we supposed to be impressed that you have flown in first class?
