What to do with my old internal hard drive

OK,

So I finally got my Intel SSD 160gb and I'm currently installing OS. I'm wondering what to do with my old hard drive (150GB Western Digital 10K RPM).

I currently use a Maxtor external hard drive to back up all my data just in case something goes wrong...

I'm thinking maybe I should store my Maxtor away and have my WD act as a backup ? Getting rid of the external hard drive means less cables under my desk... But at the same time... I'd like to preserve my old hard drive as a backup... just in case if I have problems with my Intel SSD....

Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

I'd personally keep the raptor in the computer to put programs that don't fit on the ssd.

What about using your WD as a Data drive?

I remember reading somewhere (unfortunately I can't remember where) that it makes sense to set up the SSD as a boot/application drive, and make a regular spindle drive your data drive. Can anyone more knowledgeable than me confirm whether is this true?

Exactly what my old Raptor is doing.

I keep my 150 gig vraptor just for game installs and the x25-m is for os and programs.

It makes sence to keep a fast drive around. In the case of the raptor, having it as a data drive you no longer have to deal with the noise as windows wont be actively seeking on it.

Well, I put my external hard drive to rest... I'll be using my Raptor as a backup...

In my old Raptor 150GB I was able to fit everything and I still had 26 GB of free space.

I have mainly installed all applications on my SSD and have 90GB of free space but I have not moved my music and photos. The space requirements for these are below.
Music = 15 GB
Photos = 11 GB

I'm wondering if I should move these to my SSD or just have my "Music" & "Photo" folders point to Raptor and not have these occupy space in SSD ?

But really the idea of a backup is to have all my files in both drives so that if one drive fails or I have to reinstall OS due to a virus I have all my files backed up.

What u guys think ?

I have two 74GB Raptors that are soon to be replaced with a 160GB Intel. One of them will probably find a home in my girlfriend's machine. I plan to use the second drive as a secondary system drive, moving items such as the page file and browser cache to it.

I would not use an internal drive for backup become infected with malware the infection can easily move to the second drive. It is best to use a external drive that can be turned off easily. I only turn on my external backup drive when I do a backup.

Makes sense... Maybe I should disconnect RAPTOR until I need to do a backup... The only problem with that is that I would have to open my case and it can be a pain if I backup routinely...

if need more space, but a small secondary drive, two platters. probably 640GB or so.
