What to do with my car?

99k miles, 1995, red. Have had no problems except regular wear (tires/brakes/oil/fluids, starter)

I just recently found out my clutch master cylinder is bad, and needs replaced. I really don't like holding onto what I call money pits. I'm afraid this is going to get worse and more things need replaced. Should I sell the car and part with it after the repair? Or hold onto it? I got an extra 2500 laying around, and I think I can get 5500 out of my car.

I would have 8000 left to spend on my next car, I was thinking a miata.

If you take care of the car then it still has plenty of time before it'll become a money pit, my 91 Accord with 175k miles is still doing great and is still on the original clutch.

Replacing a clutch master cylinder is a trivial 15 minute job. Is this your first car?

Yes this is my first car, I'll have to check the fluids later today. I found some pics on how to do it on the website. Right now it's cold, my garage has water from the snow melted off the cars and it might just be better to take it to the shop if its not over 200.

Maybe I should just look past the small stuff, the engine/tranny electrics are all good. Car is flawless inside and out. Maybe a rattle here and there but its 10+ years old and wasn't a quiet car to begin with. 8k redline, 4k 5th gear 80mph.

Rather save up for something in the 15grand range.

Keep it. Hondas last forever. You definitely do not want a car payment, and if you could trade even for a Miata... it's up to you.

Where are you located? If you are on the east coast, I am looking for a car just like this to replace my 1990 Integra.

Throw a bunch of stickers on it, cut the springs to lower the car and have a fart can installed...

Sell it to some teenager for PROFIT!

TimSwim, I live in Indiana. PM me if you want pics. It's bone stock except for speakers. I'm 2nd owner, bought it at 76k miles.

Adam snow, that's a good idea... sell to dumb kids for their parents $$$$ :)

and Doug, yeah its a buzzy engine. Gearing has to be that way for the long redlines and small torqueless engines.

Give it to some dead beat family members and watch them virtually destroy the car with neglect.

I have a 98 Integra GSR, this car will take great care of you if you take care of it. Keep it!
Even though premium fuel is a PIA ;)

I would take it to the shop.

Last time I tried to "fix" my car to save some money I made it about $3000 uglier.

99k isn't bad at all, its a bit early, but it was about time to change the clutch master cylinder anyway. I have a 94GSR and it's at 166k right now. I replaced the clutch master cylinder, slave master cylinder, as well as the clutch at 160k. Very fun car to drive. Just take good care if it and it will last.

BTW: Clutch master and slave cost me $250 (parts and labor) and the clutch was around $550.
