Bring it back to where you got it or your local bank. Also, you are lucky the store you tried to use it in, even unknowingly, didn't call the FBI and lock you up for passing counterfeit money.

Why would they call the FBI? The Secret Service is the department that deals with counterfeit money.

I'm surprised the store didn't just seize it and give you a form to fill out. When I was working at a grocery store, someone handed me a $50 bill which looked awful (like a combination between the new, red/blue fifty and the old style ones). Didn't pass the marker or scanner test. We kept the bill and gave the customer a form to fill out.

Just left the bank. They didn't make me whole so I lost $10 but that amount isn't a big deal at all. They looked at me weird and acted like I was the bad guy. I gave them my ID and they wrote a report and gave me a copy. Now I guess within the next few days Clint Eastwood is going to knock on my door asking me about the fake bill.

This is why I'd never bring it to a bank or any authorities. I'd tear the thing up into little pieces and throw it in the trash.

You're lucky you aren't black, they would have hog-tied you.
