What to do with a Verizon Fios box in the backyard

So the previous owners of the house had Fios. When we moved in a couple of yrs ago, we decided to go w/ Comcast. Yeah I know evil ...

Anyways, so we're going to be re-doing our backyard and the grey verizon box is nailed up underneath the deck. It looks like Comcast splice the verizon wire that was going into the house and hooked their wire to the main feed. Since I don't have a need for the Verizon box itself nor do I plan on switching to Verizon, can i remove the box and toss it?

If you're never going to use it pull that shit out. I have fios internet & TV the phone (which I never have had) back-up battery is dead. Now my options are to buy a battery that I'll never need or tolerate the box continually beeping to change the battery. The beeping is stupid loud.

Yep I disconnected the white box in our basement. Beeping stopped ... now i need to get verizon to come out and remove the fibre line and big box in my backyard.

I see the local cable vans around here regularly. I'd just stop and talk to a tech.

Or, you could call Verizon. Sounds like calling tree hell to me. You could also send a certified letter. If it's not gone in 30 days, I'd pull it myself.

I bet you'd have to spend at least 20 minutes on hold and have your call elevated multiple times before getting any customer service person who knew what he was talking about.

Some people need to calm the hell down. I switched from fios family package to TWC and hasn't look back. Can't argue with 300mbps and a bill that is a third cheaper.

Switch to FIOS and get the box moved.

Visiting houses with comcast still is like going back to the 90's.

It is on the properties easement most likey.
If you do anything with it, without permission, you will get fined big time.
If it is a NID device, you will be fined $20K-$50K if not more, and if it is a NID, then there are more people that could be hooked up to it.

Call them is your only choice.

To be fair, you must not have been negotiating with FiOS for a cheap bill to be able to lower your bill by 30% by switching to TWC and have comparable speed.

I pay $50 for 75Mbps down and 75Mbps up from verizon. They offer up to 500/500Mbps in this area.

The key with verizon is to negotiate, dont even bother to listen to whatever the going advertised price is, you can get it cheaper.

I could have fios but have kept cable for now. Would have thought harder about switching but verizon kept jacking up their cable card fee and I use all CC tuners, no company boxes.
