What to do with a friend who messed up your speakers?

A couple days ago my friend came over and played counterstrike on my computer. While he was playing he turned up my speakers really really loud. I was across the house when I heard all this shooting and exploding and music blasting from my room. So i went into my room and yelled at him that he was going to blow my speakers and to turn them down. He had them up so loud my ears started ringing. I didn't think much of it until this morning when I hear a rattle coming from my sub. I've examined the sub and the only thing rattling is the speaker itself. He blew my sub. Now I don't know what to do. He left town for a while and will return on Tuesday. I am going to try to make him pay for a new set but we're only teenagers and 150 is quite a bit to make your friend pay, although I did buy the speakers for 160 a while back with my own money. At least I have some collateral right now, his computer is at my house =D Is this the right course of action? My first thought was kick his ass but I dont think that's going to get my sub working well again.

1) make him buy you a new sub if not a new set per the sub not being sold seperately
2) give him his new speakers that he just paid for - the ones he broke
3) don't let him play on your computer anymore

what nik said. he blew em, he should pay for em. even if $150 is a lot of money, its what a new sub will run you.

When it comes down to it, it depends what's more important to you the sub or the friend? Now, of course your friend *should* want to help you fix your sub or something, but this may also hurt your friendship.

I would say you meet him halfway on the cost of a new sub. You weren't too bright leaving him alone and going across the street. He obviously is an idiot as well.

$150/2 = $75 a piece.

Problem solved. Hopefully you've learned a lesson to not let your trusted friends use your equipment without proper supervision.

You've got his computer huh? I heard that Klez virus is pretty nasty;) Not that I'd ever advocate participating in unethical behavior. If that's how you took it then there must be a strong criminal tendency in you that you don't know about.

From the price I'd guess these are Z560's?

Why not split the cost of an RMA if they're RMA'able?

Here's a hard lesson....Friends respect your property. They do not destroy it! He is NOT a friend!

That is not entirely correct. Sometimes we destroy it. True friends actually offer to pay without you asking.

if I broke anything of my friend's I would most definitely replace it without any type of request from him/her. People are responsible for their actions, and should take that responsibility seriously
