What to do with a Dedicated Server?

any suggestions? I found out today that I could setup a colo server with my company fairly cheaply -- no base monthly fee, and bandwidth usage at cost. I'd just have to purchase the hardware myself.

I just need to think of something to help justify the expense of buying a server 😉 I'm not really interested in reselling, though, since I'm way too lazy to provide any kind of support.
 
There are lots of things you can do with a server, really depends on your interests. Here are a few options:

1) Free pic server (popular)
2) Websites
3) Mail server
4) Game server (UT2K4, CS Source, Medal of Honor, etc.)
5) Music streaming

You might want to consider something that would probably get you some money back without too much maintenance otherwise you're just putting money into something without getting anything back. For that route renting out game servers may be the best bet.

Everyone signs up w/their AT s/n and you provide free hosting for vodeo/music/pics/ect...

That would be tight. No more ATOT effect!!

I'd be willing to chip in a few bucks to help cover the cost, but I'd have to see a good plan set in motion

If you were serious about it, you could talk to the mods, and see if they could work it into fusetalk, where everybody just follows a link in their profile, or in their post message box, and it automatically logs them into your server... Files @ Ur fingertips

You could call it the Imperial AT-OT server
 
bandwidth costs mula! I found out I had a servant that use 871GB today because of some tosser-scum-detritus torrent seedin leechin prick used the connection. Came from school in miami too! Some kids are gonna get kicked out of school for it. Good riddance.

We almost literally killed a kid at my college that was leaching music through BT. Grabbed the biggest guy in our class(a freakin troll of a guy) to go talk to him. He never did it again. We were all sharing a T1, and it was going at 28k speeds 🙁
