What to do/where to eat in DC this weekend?

Ikea on-line catalog. Basically, a store that sells attractive, cheap furniture. Well, attractive if you like the Danish model of outfitting a house (metal and veneer/lacquer wood products, for example.)

But as you think you are saving, you buy more. Until you look at the final bill.
My girlfriend drove up there last month for a wedding and came back with $800 dollars worth of chairs and furniture. I think she was only going in there to buy a stool and instead, came out with all that stuff. 😕

You picked a good time to visit. If you get a chance to get to the Air and Space Museum they have lowered the Wright Flyer to eye level. For the first time visitors can get a close look at the aircraft that started it all. You may want to also consider a visit to Mount Vernon. That is one of my personal favorites when I have to play tour guide when folks visit from out of town.

i guess it's ok...but it's not the nicest area around...all the UMD students live there, so nothing's "nice". if you'd rather be close, that's your call, but i'd still stay up in rockville - awesome restaurants and a very good area. FWIW...

i guess it's ok...but it's not the nicest area around...all the UMD students live there, so nothing's "nice". if you'd rather be close, that's your call, but i'd still stay up in rockville - awesome restaurants and a very good area. FWIW...

College park is kind of sketchy. The crimes been going up, but that is mostly right by the campus (knox road and rt 1). Another place you might want to just wander into for dinner would be George town, kinda spendy, but it's nice-- du pont circle has some good places to eat also. (UMD student here)

Metro is your best bet no matter where you are staying to go downtown. The weekend traffic is not that bad but DC is known to have some of the most aggressive parking ticket writers in the country since they count on parking ticket revenue for their budgets. There are conflicting signs regarding when and where you are allowed to park and not all that many spaces available in the tourist areas. Sterling and Reston are not close to Metro at all. Reston and Sterling are both out by Dulles Airport and not all that convenient to Metro or DC.

The National Archives and the Holocaust museum are on the list. I got a nice quote from the Ramada Inn in Rcokville and it is only two blocks away from the Metro...

Now any good cheap but decent places to eat in DC or Rockville?
