After the latest release of iOS 12, lot of iPhone enthusiasts were eagerly trying to update the new version and to enjoy the enhanced features. However, to the most disappointment, some of them are having serious trouble in installation. When they tried to install, they were getting “iOS 12/12.1 software update failed”. This implies that there is some bug in the software. But this is not the problem that cannot be fixed. It can be done in any of the following ways.
Step 1
Close and Update
When you get an error message saying that ‘Software Update Failed’, close the message. Give some time and again try reloading the app. This has many times solved the issues. If it’s not working, let’s try for the next solution.
Step 2
Reset ‘Network Settings’
Software update failure can also be a problem due to network settings creating issues. This can also occur when there is no stable internet connection. So, before you try downloading, ensure your connections are strong. One way to get a strong stable network is by resetting the network settings.
Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Network Settings’ > ‘Reset Settings’
When you reset your setting, most of the interruptions would be sorted out. However, when your approach still fails, try step 3.
Step 3
Update ‘iTunes’
When you are getting errors when you are trying to update over Wi-Fi, try using iTunes as a medium to install the software. It works for sure!
