What to do w/ a trade?

I sold my Xbox package to a guy on this forum (I will keep his name off of here for now). I sold it for $215 shipped. Shipped it out, the guy got it on (10.6.03 Monday), and replied that he wasen't sure if he was going to keep it or not cause the xbox had scratches on the top (they weren't bad, but it was honestly my fault for forgetting to tell him, and I admit that). (5) days later (10.10.03 Friday) he finally replied saying that he would send the money order off the next day(10.11.03 Saturday) w/ priority mail, and that his brother (who the gift was for), loved it. I have not recieved any message or money yet, and its been (5) days since saturday.

Now, I'm not trying to be a @$$, but I need the money, thats why I sold it.

I have left a message on this guys cell phone and pm'd him 3 times w/ no reply.

What do you guys think I should do? I have never really been ripped off to this extent before.

Sounds like he is stalling. He accepted it with the scratches, and needs to pay you. I think 2 days is generally accepted deadline for completing the trade once you have received an item. I would wait until you receive the money, then leave a neutral at heatware (since you were part at fault also, I wouldn't leave a negative).
 
I understand the fact that I sent it scratched and forgot to tell him, and told him that i would help pay shipping back to me if he didn't want to keep it. So that has nothing to do at this point.

*I have called his phone a couple a times. and there is no answer*
*I have pm'ed him multiple times w/ no answer.*
*His last login to AnAndTech was last friday. -- so he hasen't logged in and avoided me*

I would wait until Monday, still trying to contact the buyer, before leaving Negative heat.

this gentlemen would account for more than one, though its appeared he has cleaned up his ways.
although this was resolved, it was just one big mess

there are just the last 2 that i remembered off the top of my head, Although both members have seemed to just made a few mistakes, and I personally would still trade with Halo...just kind of sad is all. 🙁

Once he decided to keep the XBox, the scratches become immaterial in terms of the payment. However, they are a reason for him to potentially levae you neutral feedback. Although, the way you say you handled it would have been enough for me to give you a positive.

Beyond this, I cannot give you any advice since I have never shipped without being paid first. I hope he decides to pay you soon though because leaving a negative wouldn't be the same as $215.
 
Wait a few days, the MO may actually be in the mail.

If he put in the box on Saturday(worst case, after the po closes)..

Sunday
Monday(po is closed)

So the earliest that the po may have even gotten the m.o would be Tuesday.

Since it was resolved, the OP edited the first post, but he had to wait and extreme amount of time. I wasnt even aware of the post you just quoted.

How did I know this situation would be the one brought up? Yes, it was a mess, but it has been resolved and I do not believe that it was a case of the high-eval trader doing as they wish.

Those were examples, not who I think this thread is about. It was a mistake on his part, and like I said, I would still trade with him, but I don't think that would have happened if the trade invovled a newer trader trying to earn respect. Though, thats the "what-if" game, and nothing is certain.
 
Huh.. I would never ship before recieving payment. Don't care how many heat you have. That's just not the way it works.
 
I would give it a few more days because Monday 10/13 was a federal holiday (USPS was closed) and I have had mail take up to 6 days via USPS first class.

Then again if they did mail it USPS Priority Mail it should take a max of 3 business days.

I can mail something from Portland, OR to Houston, TX on Friday morning ... it arrives Monday morning.
 
Hey guys it's me he sold the Xbox to. Thanks a lot Rossman for pointing me to this thread. I was in NY since Saturday morning (I just got back now). I just sent Profet a message. My wife was supposed to send a money order out on Saturday, nonetheless she never sent the money order! I will be sending Profet extra money to straighten out this situation and for him waiting. I am not a troll and am doing everything to take care of this! I greatly apologize to Profet for the worrying he had to go through. Profet please contact me as soon as you receive my PM.

bah. threads like this just enforce my predeliction for ignoring the norms of the heatware world. There's no way I'd send out a $220.00 item w/out money in my hand.
 
he just replied today and said that he got back from ny and will send a $250 money order to make up for the deal.

hopefully he sends it.

Hehe this is one of the reasons I stopped trading here very often. People have great intentions, but their follow-through sometimes leaves a little to be desired. Good to see you guys are getting it worked out without fighting.
