What to do to clone a drive

A friend of mine has a HP computer with a 80GB IDE hard drive with 2 partitions on it:

Partition (1) Drive C: With windows XP
Partition (2) Drive D: with the Windows XP restore Partition

He just bought a larger HD and is wanting to copy both partitions to the larger newer HD

What is the best free software that will allow him to duplicate or clone these drives..

Thanks for any help 🙂

What brand of hard drive did he buy? A lot of the major ones include free cloning software. If it's not on the drive, it's easily downloadable from the manufacturer's website.

Acronis home can do the job and it has a free 2 week trial period. If it does the job properly and all is fine, then if you like it, pay for it. But your newly cloned drive will work fine wether you buy it or not. Only reason to buy is so you can make backup images on a regular basis.
