What to do? (job)

Basically, I am working for this company as an intern. I have worked as an intern for almost a year. Also, I have been interviewing so that I can get out of here and get a real job (I really dont enjoy working here). So, today, I get an email from some other company about an interview. Also, my current boss says that they are going to make a position here for me. Should I warn my boss that I may be leaving soon? or just go with the flow? It's just that I like my boss and I feel bad that he is going through trouble to get me this position and then I will just be like "SEEYA" Though if I leave, he's gonna need to hire people to replace me anyway...

ask your boss about when you'll be getting a job cause you're being asked to interview; whether you should follow up on that.

your boss may offer you a job on the spot if he likes you enough.

It's not like there's a position that he's withholding from me. He is working to get the CFO to create a new postition for me. It's not up to him to just hire me on the spot. It it was, I would have been full time a long time ago.

what he said.

dude, definetly talk to him about it.

if you are good with your boss, make sure it stays that way, as he can be a good reference in the future.

besides, it's just not nice to leave without a word after him going through trouble.

Hah! I was in a simliar position.

Ultimately I kept information that I was interviewing for another company from my boss and gave him a last minute resignation notice. You gotta watch for your own back first. I liked my former boss too, but I wasn't willing to jeopordize my position with revealing unneccessary information. 🙂 He said later that he wished I would have told him I was interviewing with another company, but I made it up by working a few days later than my resignation date. Both were happy and he was really cool about it.

ahh, i see. you should talk to him anyway, to find out how realistic the creation of the position is, and whether it'll happen in the next 2 weeks or next 2 years... "soon" in today's economy can be quite unpredictable.

If they are one of those bosses you are on good terms with and thats what it sounds like if they're making a position for you, definitely talk to them. Be honest they will appreciate that. Tell them you're gonna check all your options and that includes interviewing elsewhere. You don't have to accept the other job if it's offered to you, but if the pay is good, but you would rather work where you are, tell them you were wondering what the salary for the position would be. If they are as cool as they sound, they want you to do the best for yourself you can. If they're one of those pointy haired bosses though, don't tell them anything or they'll can you!

Just tell him that you are looking for opportunities in other companies and you are going to make a decision based on the offers you recieve. But do mention that you think he is a great boss.

He said that it's going to happen next week. Coming from him, I would say it's 99% accurate.
