What to do in Windsor, ON?

Howard

Lifer
I'm heading there for a few day's worth of work, but I'll have my mornings and afternoons free. Anything good?

Not really. There's the casino and.... well there's the casino.

That being said there's some things nearby depending on total amount of free time but during the day you'll be quite limited.

When are you going? There's the Detroit-Windsor Freedom Festival at the beginning of July. Usually a pretty big affair with fireworks etc...

They have a university with a law school. Not that well ranked in the country, but if you're looking for young'uns.

There's a casino, and that's about it. I suppose you could cross the river and go on a ghetto tour of Detroit.

Canadian Club has a distillery just East of downtown Windsor that does tours and has pretty cool grounds.

Other than that, I've visited Windsor throughout my life having grown up in metro Detroit...I'd say to come across the river. It's warm and the city's nice right now. Catch a Tigers game (maybe they'll even win!), eat in Greektown/Mexican Village, drink at Two James (Detroit's first distillery in city limits since prohibition), and with the World Cup coming up there are some nice old bars to watch games at. Also, the Detroit Institute of Art has a surprisingly good collection and you should check it out before those bastards figure out what they're going to do with it. There's also a Detroit Film Theater inside of a new wing that shows some great movies and is a beautiful theater (think opera theater more than movie).

I've been there once, interestingly, it was a night stop on the way to a trip to Detroit. It was before the big 3 collapse though, so Detroit was not in the shape it's in now. Pretty sure they don't do those Nascar bus trips anymore, unless Tisdale has a new bus fleet of armored buses. 😛

There was Casinos if I recall, and half naked ladies walking around casually.
