I am taking a road trip to Vancouver this summer.

What are some 'must-see' places to go ?

Where can I find cheap hotels near the night life ?

Any places close to Vancouver worth checking out ?

What is with the marijuana scene up there ? (i only ask, cuz I hear that Vancouver is like a little Amsterdam when it comes to pot)

Vancouver is a beautiful city. I spent 14 years in Crofton, which is a small (~500) town on Vancouver Island.

What to do? Well you could,

1. Tour Stanley Park, which is very nice this time of year.
2. Go down to Granville Island, lots of nice restaurants.
3. Go to Gastown, very touristy part of town... in some places...
4. If you up for a bit of a journey, you can take the Horseshoe Bay - Victoria (1.5 hrs) or the Twassen - Victoria (2 hrs) ferries to get to the Victoria on Vancover Island. Victoria is the captial of the province and is, like Vancouver, a lovely city. Again the Asian influence kicks in, they have a very nice Chinatown with alot of great restaurants.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll have fun... hope you have a good trip!

There is no Horseshoe Bay - Victoria ferry d00d. HB - Nanaimo yes, but not to Victoria. Tsawwassen - Victoria is how you'd have to go (not a problem as T-town is just 20 minutes south of the city). www.bcferries.ca

Marijuana is practically legal, just don't do it in a cop's face.

Try the best Sushi in North America, at ToJo's on Broadway St. You can ofen find many celebrities dining there.

Oh yeah you're right... man, that makes me feel like an idiot; I took those ferries more times than I could possibly remember. Thanks!
