So I just got sent up to Toronto, last minute, for work. What is there to do here? Looking for good cheap food and some places to hang out. Anybody want to meet up? I'm staying at a pretty nice hotel, downtown at Thomson Toronto, they have a nice bar/lounge as well as a roof top bar.

Where's also a good place to by outlet name brand clothes? I literally have 2 sets of clothes cause I came from a different job site.

Suggestions?

I am a 15 minute walk away from you right now. Definitely check out the bar up top of the Thomson.

For outlet brand-name clothes, try Winners. There are a few downtown. One is at College/Yonge, and another is on Bloor near Avenue Rd. You can walk up to Queen, then head east to Eaton Centre, then walk through the mall and PATH up to the Winners. There's a decent burger place right at College/Yonge too called W Burger Bar. Service is slow, but the food is good.

If you like pho, check out Pho Hung on Spadina and... well, just south of Baldwin.

Haha, I'm down at 417 broadway at a medical clinic. Everyone here says eaton is the place to go for shopping. Have tomorrow off and Niagra falls sounds like a good idea. My first priority is cloths. All I have is a pair of jeans and a jump suit, haha.

Also, where are all the beautiful girls at!!! Everyone is all bundled up understandable since its like 0-15c right now.

My brother lives there and I've been there 10's of times.
Niagara falls is good. But I find Toronto to be pretty boring. Eaton centre is fine for a mall. But you have those everywhere. Sure you could go to the CN tower. That's about it.

If you like art you could go to AGO art gallery of Ontario and ROM royal Ontario museum. I went there and it was worth going. They usually have an interesting exhibit. Both should be within walking distance. Toronto is boring but the people are ok just avoide the canadians of the french kind.:)

On the way to Niagara Falls you can stop at some wineries and try some ice wine.

Bathurst and King? What a shithole.... That's like the edge of cracktown. Place to score is Queen and Bathurst.

Lots of bars/clubs on King if you head east a few blocks. "Athletic" clothing store on King east of Spadina at Mountain Equipment Co-op. Don't bother heading west. It's downtown, so no outlets for clothes I can think of.

Go to the CN tower, they have that thing where you can hang out outside (literally) on the top. I so want to try that if I go in that area.

They also have lot of electronics store. I think Tigerdirect actually has an outlet there. Not sure if it's like a store where you can just walk in though.

Oh ya, if you're really cheap, there's a Gap Outlet at Dufferin Mall. Take subway to Dufferin and Bloor. That is also incracktown...

Man, I just realized how much of ghetto this city is.

Haha, just got off work. I need to vent and spend money. Just completed a fuckup by a third party tech, which felt awesome, to then get reamed by another clinic for a mistake said technician did. Ahhhh.

Im at eaton now. So many people

Yeah it's crazy how much people can be in one spot. Every time I go to Toronto I'm just amazed at how there's so many people and it's so fast paced. I enjoy visiting but definitely would not want to live there.

The nice thing about Toronto though is because it's so warm you can just walk everywhere so you can beat the traffic assuming you're not going that far.

Jarvis and Richmond. Once got approached by some nasty looking hoe who was at least 55. She turned away when she saw me freaking out. :p

There's not a lot of good things I have to say about Toronto. It's kind of dirty, the people are rude, and there's a lot of sketchy areas. Like any big city actually. Ottawa is the nicest major Canadian city I've been too.

I've lived in Toronto and I hate it here, I personally think that the cops lie about how much crime is going on in this city.

Real Sports is possibly the best sports bar in North America, worth checking out (right downtown by the Air Canada Centre).

If you can, attend a Raptors game - believe it or not the atmosphere beats most American arenas (most, not all). There's a game against the Rockets tomorrow (only home game for a week or so), worth checking out - weekend games are always good draws.

Also if you're a nightlife person, make sure you hit up Richmond street on Saturday night.

You can also check out the ROM, Ontario Science Centre, etc..

Been there many times ... it is one of the cleanest cities that I've ever seen. Avoid ANY mall and go to the Top-of-Toronto. If you are tall (over 6') go to China Town at rush hour ...

I went to school around Jarvis for a few years. For some reason, I avoided all the hookers and bums my entire time there - probably because I could never make it in before 9:15am (80 lates one year, best was around 30, but it was really just the teacher not caring). Meanwhile, everyone else was talking about coming in at 7am, running into hookers. Also, I found out years later that my school was right across from a social services office - oh...

Maybe I'm just use to the crime (e.g. shooting, stabbing every so often a few blocks away). And I know what areas to avoid. On the otherhand, I work in the ghetto now, so I'm just further desensitized.

OP:

Stuck up people? I'm not denying, but I would love to hear your story:).

go to Caplansky's for deli, Tulip for steak, Nova Era for Portuguese pastry. Tokyo Sushi near Bay and Wellesley is decent. Yum Yum bbq is fast food korean bbq but pretty decent. Order Spicy short ribs. China town has plenty of cheap food.

There is a shuttle bus downtown that takes you to vaughan mills mall if you want to visit it. What kind of thing do you like to do?

Oh definitely go to one of the Portuguese grilled chicken places.

Caplansky's seconded. Around sunset, you should go to the bar on top of the Manulife Center (Yonge/Bloor) and make sure you sit outside on the south side. Great view of the city lights coming on.

Craft Burger is also good (think it's been renamed Big Smoke Burger -- better than Shake Shack). Check out the ROM/Yorkville too. Really, the best area to see is Yonge St + Yorkville + UofT.
