What to do in Stockton, CA, and areas to avoid?

They have some very good, old fashioned steak houses/saloons from the late 40s~early50s.
Stockton is a rough town, I like it for a quick visit. 😀

I use to live in Stockton in the "good part" of the city and even then it was pretty shtty. Definitely dont go downtown

Probably better off going out in Modesto. Lots of bars and things to do downtown here. Many would suggest the Fat Cat, but the bastards charge a $10 cover so I never go there. The Copper Rhino is cool though, $1 drafts till 10 on thursday nights.

my little sister is going to an interview there with a company which is gonna be almost all day and she wants me to go with her because of the ghetto stuff.

Not sure how much it's changed, (probabaly not for the best) but back in the late 80's, Stockton was supposed to have the 3rd highest crime rate (per capita) in the US. I was told this by a Stockton PD cop when they were taking a burglary report at the motel where I was staying. I know a couple of Stockton PD detectives, and they say it'sonly getting worse and worse.
Modesto is cleaner, and has less crime, but IMO, tends to be a pretty boring place.
How long are you going to be in the area? Work or personal? There are quite a few things to do within a couple of hours drive, but otherwise, this ain't the hub of culture or entertainment...😉
