I have never been to either, but I just bought a car from NYC and am flying to JFK ... anything I should see in NYC before I drive home? Then on the way while I am passing through Chicago, something I should see?

I will be in NYC on fri/sat then hopefully in chicago sunday/mon and hopefully home on monday! '

btw, for those curious I picked up a 01 wolfsburg ed. Jetta for ungodly cheap! not off ebay or craiglist mind you.

Really depends on what rocks your boat :) and your budget ... plenty to do and see here in NYC

A small checklist wud be:

1. una pizza napoletana 349 E.12th St. (Incredible pizza)
2. hit up a club / strip bar / comedy club
3. MOMA / MET / Gugenheim (museums)
4. Wander around Times Sq. / Union Sq. (not all that fun but some ppl like it - Union has a farmer's market 4 times a week, inc. one on Friday)
5. Go to St. Mark's Place (lots of interesting stores and good, cheap food)
6. Central Park (it's massive!)
7. Statue of Liberty (kinda boring and too touristy)

I wouldn't reccomend driving around in NYC. You'll spend more time looking for parking than having fun. Find a cheap day parking spot and use the Metro or cabs. If u're in shape - walk - it's the only way to experience NYC.

Enjoy!

NYC... walk around Times square area for an hour or less, maybe grab a slice of pizza. (BEFORE u get ur car, u dont wanna worry about parking)

Then, Michigan Ave. in Chicago near Marshall Fields, and Hancock Tower... maybe drive along Lake Shore Drive.
