What to do in New Orleans

I'm thinking of taking spring break in New Orleans, and I need a "plan" of things to do in order to put the trip together. What can you do in New Orleans besides get drunk?

EDIT: Male, and not going during Mardi Gras!!!

I did the spring break in NO a few years back. We got a hotel room on Canal street, about 4 blocks from Burbon. You can spend all day wandering around the french quarter and checking out all the shops. There is also the river boats, and I'm not sure if the aquarium is open.

If you go during Marti Gras, don't expect to do anything besides party. Everything is closed anyway.

Even if you don't drink you need to visit Bourbon Street. The whole Canal St. area by Riverwalk is pretty damn cool, especially if you like history. You can also visit the Aquarium of the Americas, IMAX and the New Orleans Zoo. There is a boat ride you can take from the aquarium to the zoo if you want. Also nearby you take airboat rides of the swamp.

This stuff may be too boring for you but those are the places I like to visit when I go there.

The aquarium is nice. Harrah's is a fairly good casino. The zoo, New Orleans Art museum, breakfast at Cafe Du Monde are all good.

A 20 minute drive across the lake will take you to Abita Springs. On the weekends, they give free tours of the brewery and you can sample all their beers. I have a tendancy to drink too much when visiting the factory (I used to do web work for them). http://www.abita.com Every time I've gone, you pretty much drink as much as you wish. Suggestion, take the first tour and you can drink the whole time the second tour is walking around.

Many great restaurants in town. Frankie and Johnny's is a personal favorite and a local hotspot for dinner.

Yeah, Cafe du Monde is great. Also visit Jackson Square...

see the above ground tomb cemeteries and look for some voodoo queens 😀. eat some good gumbo, etouffe, crawdads most definately. see the tons of ppl in french quarter at 3am and...uh...get drunk 😀

Just don't become a neverleft.

A lot of tourists go there and never left.

Take the vampire tour of the French Quarter, it's great. You'll learn so much more then by just walking around. If you doing the cemeteries, take a tour, it's an easy place to get robbed.

Bourbon St hehe Buy beads online somewhere where it'll be tons cheaper than there. The bigger the beads, the nicer the boobs you'll be seeing. The cheap beads reel em in, but the big nice ones get you the big nice ones 🙂
