i aint into watching NASCAR, or drinking domestic beer like a satirical post said. :p

but seriously. i'm an LA transplant, and i have no idea what there is to do around here. i'd like to find a place that serves hoegaarden, kroenburg, or stella, and find a good club, or jazz bar, etc.

but really anything to do to familizarize myself with this place.

what i'd really like to do though, is head for a drive or something drive through some national parks. are there anyone can recommend?

you'll have to dig deep there. Look into jazz clubs, any alternative scene. In those places, you'll find the signs of other places.

If you are so ignorant to think that nothing happens in KC and that all the girls are "abstinece chicks" then I hope you have a boring time in KC

i think you need a few lessons in reading comprehension.

who said nothing happens in KC? i sure didn't. i'm asking what there is to do here. it's not a rhetorical question indicating this place sucks. like i said, if you actually read the first post, i'm new to KC and i want suggestions on what to do here.,

second, who the hell is saying all the girls practice abstinence?

you've completely missed the purpose of this thread. please thread crap elsewhere.

Sorry, I wasn't taking a shot at you. I just hate how everyone stereotypes people from kansas. People always act like there aren't things to do. It's just like anywhere else. Kansas City is actually rather large. There is plenty to do. What types of things are you into? Johnson County is one of the most richest counties in the country. Jazz is huge in Kansas City. There is a negro league baseball/jazz museum that is interesting if you're interested in learning about the importance of Kansas City Jazz. Anyways, sorry I came off so harsh I just hate it when people say things like: "you're in kansas? Move out, or end yourself. " Kansas City wouldn't be that bad of a place to live (I have an internship there this summer). Also, as far as kansas goes, Kansas City is pretty liberal of a place. Also, we don't use outhouses, and there is no wizard of oz. Have fun!

Well, you can drive out to the country and watch the corn grow.

If that doesn't cause your heart to beat faster, try googling "Kansas City night llife." There actually were several listings. :Q Surpised the hell out of me. :)

i headed to this place called the velvet dog, which is this trendy martini bar in downtown. it wasn't half bad, the only problem is that, well there were two problems. the first is that going to a bar alone sucks. second, i went too early and the place was pretty barren.

i guess i can try it again next week. that musem also sounds interesting. i'll try and head out there sometime this week.

Well Here is my stab at it.. (I guess I will keep it in the thread rather than pm, incase someone has something to add)

Hevnsnt's KC Bar Scene (I have lived here for 5 years, and never seen any of the sites, just the bars)

Post College but still 20 something "fun bars"
Paddy O`Quigleys (119th & Roe) Go on a Sat night and you will see me there.
The Brooksider (in Brookside of course)

Clubs
Go to Westport there are tons of there there

Wine/Martini Bars
In Johnson County go to
Raoul's Velvet Room

Otherwise go to the plaza.. There are places like Reverse

More to come.. It just really is up to where you want to go.. You said you tried the Velvet dog.. That place can be empty or wicked crowded, it comes and goes. They serve chocolate martini's there that are classified with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms as "Liquid Panty Removers" :)

I will keep editing this, there are TONS of places to go

Places I go (28/Married/Still pretend to be in college/White)
Paddy O'Quigleys (Easy to get wasted and watch people dance on tables, yes my wife will be one of them)
WJ McBrides (Extra chill Irish Bar with outside patio)
Brooksider (Makes me feel like I never left college)
The Peanut (Chill hole in the wall all over KC)
Maloneys (My buddy's fav bar, to me it is just another sports bar)
Dannys (On those ultra drunk nights where I don't want to leave Johnson County)
John's Upper Deck (Happy hour anyone?)
XO (on those super drunk nights)
The Levee (Another happy hour place, down by the plaza)
Malloys (Great Irish bar with good music, outside of westport)
Fox and Hound (JoCo) Great cigar bar with tons of pool tables.
