what to do in DC/Maryland?

I'll be going over to visit in two weeks (mid-June)... what's there to do out there? Places to eat (Lexington market for peanuts?), seafood, etc? I've been to D.C./Virginia before on a school tour back in the 8th grade (9 years ago) but I think I'll go do that touristy stuff again. Any "must see" places? How's the weather at this time of the year?

Clubs:

Zee/Insomnia/Glow (all the same place)
Nation
DC Spot
Cage
Relish

For bars, go to Adams Morgan

for general hanging out: Georgetown - shopping, bars, couple of clubs, views, etc

Lots of good, small restaraunts in one place:
23rd street, Arlington, VA

Do you like going out at night? Clubs? Bars? Type of food?

The FDR monument is pretty cool. Can't think of any tourist-y things to do since I don't really do them. You always take for granted what's right around you.

seafood! although crabs aren't in season yet, right?

Just for fun you can see how many times you can ride the escalators at the Smithsonian before security comes and escorts you from the building. It took 34 times in junior high for them to come and at least ask us what we were doing, but nowadays I could see them approaching you after maybe 3.

Have fun!

powerplant downtown.... bunch of bars... good time

seafood if you like it.... crabs will be coming out of hiding soon 🙂 I'm getting my boat ready

Hmm, for seafood in Georgetown I'd try J Pauls. My friend is a bartender there. Mien Yeu (sp?) is across the street. It's a new chic sushi place. I think it's expensive but I'm not sure, haven't been there yet. This is all on M Street.

For nightlife, depends on what you like. I like Adams Morgan for bars. Gtown bars are too preppy except for Modern. For clubs, I like VIP and Dream. I hardly go clubbing anymore so I don't know what they're like lately. Oh, there's the waterfront: Harbor Club, Sequoia, and some other meatmarket I forget the name of. The first two are restaurant/bars. Safest bet for going out is not to wear sneakers since msot places have dress codes. Lame, I hate dress codes.

I'm actually headed home (MD) tomorrow...I was talking with my Mom yesterday, and she said the weather was pretty nice back there. It actually looks like it's supposed to rain the next few days, but other than that, it looks pretty nice...temp in the 60's. There's lots of stuff to do in DC. Visit the Smithsonian, go to all the Memorials and monuments, and you can't go wrong.
