Well, i bought a S-video cable and it was defective, burned out my laptop and vid card.

Is there any guarantee or insurance or anything i can do other than changing the defective item i bought?

Anyone experience this before? What to do!! 🙁

we talked about this in consumer ed today!
yes you are guranteed im almost positive. Call up the company from the cable and b!tch them out! you will get new whatever you broke

hmmm, my vid card does not have warranty! 🙁

i guess i'll try to call them, i just don't want to look like a fool, since they will prolong the process and i am assuming i will have to leave numerous voice messages and no one will give me a call!!

Hope someone have same experience or is a lawyer!

PM luvly and ask her... she seems to know a lot about the law and I believe some of her family members might also be involved with lawyering and such

WTF? How does a b0rk3d S-Vid cable fry a laptop / video card? :Q

There's signal travelling through those, but there's not enough voltage to cook anything ...

I am assuming you are talking about a cable that is not messed up, but anything can happen when unwanted static electricity travels to your sensitive components! 🙁

Just like a good fuel line and a messed up leaking fuel line in a car, the leaking fuel line will cause an explosion even though cars are not made to explode. well, you know what i mean! I'm tired, going to bed.

I cant say exactly what each companies policy is but I experienced something like this before and the company that made the product that caused the problem was very helpful. I had a playstation and had gotten a 3rd party control. Eventually something happened with the control and blew out the controller port on the playstation. Called up the company that made the control and explained the problem. They said to mail everything (system and 3rd party related) affected items to them and they would send a check for all damages and reimbursed all related costs.

Im sure each companies policy is different so the best advice is to contact them asap.
