what to do after installing new printer cartridges??

Well I hadn't had a printer for about 3 years and I got a new canon i860 and I ran out of the black and yellow ink. After I install the new cartridges, do I need to do an allignment or cleaning or anything like that? I just wanna make sure before I go ahead and print out something else. It's the canon ones with the 4 color systems - black, magenta, cyan, yellow. Thanks.

it should know you put in new ones and tell you to align it. At least that happens with most every printer i've used.
