What to do about P8P67 Deluxe?

Well, I've spent a month trying to iron out the bugs in my P8P67 Deluxe B3, and Saturday is the last day I can return the board to MicroCenter. I still have the occasional freeze, it periodically fails to wake/connect to the monitor when booting or waking just the monitor, and, despite the best efforts of an Asus rep on the [H] forums, it still can't wake from sleep.

So, I can hold onto the board and hope fixes are uncovered, exchange it for a GA-P67A-UD4, or take a chance on Z68 and exchange it for the GA-Z68X-UD4. The Gigabyte P67 boards aren't perfect either, but folks seem to be having a little more luck with them. I don't have any need for the Z68 advantages, other than the hope that it might have fewer problems. Overclocking would be nice but isn't essential - I really just want a board that is stable and functions properly. Any suggestions?

It could be some other part of your system, but it would probably be best to return it while you can. I wouldn't wait for fixes that never may come..

For your freezing issue, have you enabled HotSwap for the C300 n the BIOS? What BIOS version are you running? Are you using the Intel RST drivers? If so, what version? Are you using the XMP profile for the Ripjaws?

It could indeed be something else (perhaps the SSD or memory), but I also don't want to find out it's just a quirk of the board and lose the opportunity to exchange it.

Yes, I have hot swap enabled for the C300, I was originally using the Intel RST drivers but subsequently removed them. I've tried both the XMP profile for the Ripjaws and manually setting them to 1333 instead of 1600. PLL overvoltage is disabled, C states are enabled, wake by PCIE is enabled, and I might be forgetting some of the other suggested fixes. The ASUS rep had me tweaking some timings and voltages, also with no success. As for the BIOS, in desperation I tried the unofficial 1606 BIOS this weekend as a last ditch attempt to find a fix.

I'd LOVE to fix this rather than swapping out boards again, so I'm certainly open to suggestions.

Try running your RAM at 1333 9-9-9-24 1.5v for the stability issue.

For waking from sleep, try this:

2 known issues with Asus and P67:
1) Dual boot is fixed by enabling "wakeup from pci-e" in bios.
2) S3 resume from sleep is fixed by disabling "PLL Overvoltage" in bios.

The only C state that should be enabled is C6. Disable C3.

Thanks. I did try both the wake-up from PCI-E and disabling PLL overvoltage fixes, to no avail, but will try tweaking RAM as suggested. Will also adjust C states so only C6 is enabled. I'll try anything at this point!

Try latest bios 1503? Are you overclocking? Try running defaults (do a CMOS rest).

Tried RAM at 1333 and changed the C states to disabled except for C6, still no luck. Running at stock with the unofficial 1606 BIOS, which I flashed to over the weekend out of desperation. Cleared CMOS at several stages, but also to no effect. I've tried all the various fixes that have been floating around. Reaching the conclusion that I should pull it apart on Friday and try something else.

Why did you remove the RST drivers? Have you tried the 10.5.0.1026 drivers?

I have the Pro version and am running Corsair Vengeance without issues.

Were you an original adopter of P67 back in January and only began to have problems when you swapped the mobo out for the B3 version?

Well, just as an update for anyone in the same boat, I exchanged the P8P67 Deluxe for a P8Z68-V Pro (kudos to MicroCenter - they even honored my combo discount on the board from my original purchase in January - no hassles at all). So far, everything has gone smoothly. Only hiccup was getting ready to boot for the first time and realizing there's no PS/2 connector - so back I went to MicroCenter to finally replace my ancient keyboard! So, at least for me, switching from P67 to Z68 has been worth it.

P.S. - I can even sleep!
