What to do about eradicating the Hamas tunnels?

this seems completely obvious to some people....but somehow alludes the minds of many others...

what's up with that?



it's just like if we built a wall on the mexican border.... or pressed any harder...tunnels will just pop up.. or submarines or some other clever method for a means to an end.


the only way is to end the apartheid.. it's really that simple.... or at least tear down the wall... then you got the mexican/usa border....which isn't a picnic lunch... but at least they aren't shooting rockets at us!!!!

-The American far right takes over. They are for: "North America for white people!" So, this puts them philosophically at odds with Mexico's existence.
-Minutemen start making cross-border raids on Mexico, killing civilians indiscriminately because, "A country ruled by brown people has no right to exist on North American soil," stymieing the Mexican police's efforts to stop them by launching their raids from and returning to the safe haven that is the United States.
- Mexico builds a fence to stop them.
- The Minutemen build tunnels to keep killing Mexicans.

That's far too simplistic a view of the situation. There is some legitimacy to the grievances of the people who inhabit Gaza;

They want to end Israel's existence. Their baseline is that, no matter what, they have the right to war with Israel until it is gone. All rules bow to that one. No gift of Israel's will placate them and prevent them from acting to eradicate the Jews. They believe they have the right to murder, and so they have no problem taking any gift of Israel's and using it to further their desire to murder Israelis.

Do you see why this isn't conducive to anything but a hard-line stance?

The Israeli's actions to secure themselves from Palestinian's acting on their fundamental hatred are righteous, and hatred based on them is invalid.

While I agree in principle, that analogy grossly breaks down. Americans are still free to come and go as we please via our airports and coastline. Palestinians are largely confined by Israel and Egypt, neither of which like or trust them. While I consider that to be nearly 100% the Palestinians' own fault, that doesn't change the fact that it IS a factor because they cannot simply ignore the Israelis and go about their business. Or rather, technically they could simply ignore the Israelis if they hadn't been ass hats to both, but as it stands today they cannot simply ignore both the Israelis and the Egyptians. Even if like myself you largely blame the Palestinians for this reality, the analogy is still unworkable because of this reality.

This is a real conundrum.
1. The Palestinians have to have access to trade and travel to make a viable state.
2. The Palestinians cannot be trusted with access to trade and travel.
3. Until the Palestinians have access to trade and travel, they have little reason to stop hating and attacking Israel and Egypt.
4. Until the Palestinians stop hating and attacking Israel and Egypt, those nations cannot trust them with access to trade and travel.

I don't know how this gets resolved with one or the other groups being killed off or driven out of the region, at least with the Jews. With Egypt maybe it's a bit easier, but still difficult.
