What to buy...

I'm looking at two different options...

I can buy a WAP for my dorm room, so that I can use my laptop elsewhere in my room than just at my desk... it'd be around $50 or so after rebates.

Or, I could buy a wireless keyboard and mouse for my desktop; I'd still only have to mess with one computer on a consistent basis, plus I'd have a bit more mobility.

Any suggestions?

WAP, just secure it well. Wait for one of the netgear deals at staples, they're great routers and will function as a bridge if you disable dhcp.

how bit is your dorm? If it's just a tiny room get the wireless keyboard/mouse. I have both, but don't use a wireless connection in my apartment. I just use it to "sell" some bandwith to my neighbors. I'm on my laptop on my bed right now, but the wireless is to slow, so I just drug a cord to the switch.

I'm an RA, so my room is a large double with half the furniture removed.

Yep. 🙂 Where my couch is is (usually) where the other bed is.
