I need new tires, badly. They need to be 235/60/16. Any good brands / models that I should look at. I can't really spend too much on them. I know the michellins are in the $180 a piece range. Should I go to a local shop or a sears type shop? Thanks for the tips.

Just remember don?t get analysis paralysis. I question the validity of the personal rating system they use.

Selling tires is like religion. Everyone has his favorite and the other guys are always crap.

For instance I am also looking for new tires. The Michelin tires that I had been using don?t last and cost twice a much as comparably rated brands. But according to various raters comparable Good Years and Bridgestone?s have other problems such as harsh ride, noise and loose handling characteristics.

I don?t know of anyone who will allow you to try them out and return them if YOU are not satisfied.

Excess tire noise is the main thing that concerns me. Everything else can be warranted (mileage, load rating and speed).

Does anyone know if the Pirelli P6000 is any good? Also looking at Yokohama Avid V4. Thanks.

I was very hppy with the Yokohama tires I put on my 93 Trans Am to replace the Goodyear GS-Cs. Both Z rated and excellent in rain. Yokos seem to wear a little better but overall very little difference.

The Dunlops are pretty good, but for me when my tires die, I'll probably end up going with the Bridgestone Potenza RE950's.
OEM Firestone/Bridgestone tires (like any makers tires they put on most new cars :( ) suck big time, but their stuff with the UNI-T is amazing. I replaced my last car's tires with Firehawk SH-30's and it had the UNI-T. It was an amazing set of tires! The handling under all conditions improved massively.
The RE950's have the 2nd generation of the UNI-T so it should do some great stuff for the car. Also doesn't hurt that the entertainment book has a coupon for 25% off tires at the local Firestone dealer. With the coupon the RE950's are cheaper installed than any other tire in it's class. :)

Edit:
Tirerack link to the RE950s

Those are a little expensive, SaintGRW, and since I'm in WI, I don't think they will do me much good in the snow. Thanks for the tips.
