What time should Black Friday shoppers go down to the stores?

Is 12AM sufficient enough to ensure a 1st place in line? For those who have shopped at previous Black Friday sales, if you're first in line, are you almost a given for the most best deals such as the $300.00 laptop at Best Buy?
