What time does ebay bidding end?

When you list an item on ebay what time does bidding end? Let's say I finish putting it up at 8:13PM and set it as a 1 day listing, does the bidding end the same time the following night?

Think about it for a moment;
If you have a 24 hour listing

Nope 23 hours and 59 mins later............................

Seriously, go outside with you sarcasm meter, smash it up and buy a new one.

OP: It ends 12 hours after you start the Auction. Why do you think it would be on Auction when people are asleep?! That's just stupid if no one is awake to bid!!

Yah, I want to synchronize the final bidding hour when people are still awake and sober. I'm just wondering if I need to pay the extra 10¢ in order to set an exact closing time or if my start time is automatically my closing time as well.
