What tie with a black shirt?

Why don't you get a decent dress shirt instead of a cotton Gap shirt? That kind of shirt doesn't really go with a tie.

That said, red is probably your best bet.

If you insist on a tie, I'd say a dark maroon or something like that

with greyish suit i'd go with royal blue tie... with black/dark suit i'd go with dark burnt orange tie.. no pattern on the tie but textures are good
