My question is i have a lan and @ home internet with a nic card for each(2 cards each pc).....lan has crossover cable and @home has cable modem to hub and each pc has own ip..

q1:is ther anyway to have them both run off of one card?like primary and secondary networks?I see an "alternate connections tab" in network properties for each card...
q2:there are many protocols boxes in network prop. for each card...which ones are necesary for internet and gaming?on winme i only had tcp/ip

ps-that alternate connections tab really interests me...anyone familiar with this and how to set it up so that it would automatically go to internet or lan game or vice-versa

i use the alternate connection tab for my bosses computer so that when he brings it in here i have already setup an ip address and he connects to our office network, but when he is at home he just plugs in his cable modem and it works,

so this means i dont have to play with the settings everytime he brings it in --- it just gets onto the network and thats is it !!!

other than that dunno what else it could be used for ?

not because lan and Internet would physical do different connects, each having there own alternative connection tab. It use if you move you PC arround alot and need differnet network setups or if you use a DCHP as your primaray setting and have a manualual assigned IP to backup your DCHP server.
