What things to Disable in Bios? Random Resets with ECS k7s5a

What things do I have to disable if I just bought the Audigy to replace the Ac'97 onboard sound
The board is the ECS k7s5a
ITs just......the one that says sound....and midi port thing right?? Only 2 things I should disable?

Im only asking because this damn Audigy with XP with MOBO is giving me problems. That god damn error message pops up asking me to send something every damn time I start computer. God that new feature is annoying.

Oh yea. I get random resets on my computer any body might know why? I don't have anything but MOBO, 256 ram, agp Riva tnt video card in it. I had audigy installed but uninstalled it and is using onboard right now. Could that cause it?>??? Man why does the only computer that is giving me trouble out of 7 ive built in last 2 month ends up being mine.

OH yea, I have a 1.4 Tbird/400w Sparkle power supply..... Could have improper ArticSilver application cuase random shutdowns??

try this. get the computer up and running. after it is running, smack the case a few times. If it re-boots, the ATX connector on your PWS ( or maybe board ) is loose, causing the reboots. I had this problem, and I trucked it down tho that, but it was a kk 266 not the k7s5a.

I believe there are two places that you have to disable the onboard sound in the BIOS. I don't have one in front of me but I seem to remember that. You could be getting resets because of temp problems. When it happens next, go into the BIOS and see what the CPU temp is at. I think you should also reset the CMOS and recheck your RAM settings. Use the most conservative settings to start with. While I don't condon "slapping" the case of your system, you might want to heed the device and reinstall your ATX power connnector. However, if you reset the CMOS properly, you will remove and reinstall that anyway. Another possibility causing your trouble with the Audigy could be you need to remove the onboard sound driver files. That might also cause the resets if it is happening during a sound event or game.

... and after you followed Evadman's advice, go buy a new harddisk as well. These things don't like physical shock.

But he's close ... if you get random reboots, primary suspects are CPU cooling and power supply unit.

Yea, I was suspected it was the CPU. This comp is the first rig out of 7 I built using paste. I guess I can pull the sucker out, redo the paste, reset the bios, and reinstall windows. I have since downgraded from windows XP---Windows 98. I havn't had a random restart yet(Mostly happend when I played sound). I do get the BSOD tho now that im in 98. Could it be my installations and drivers causing the restarts in Windowns xp? I remember hearing it does that. Hmm some more CS playing and Music testing in 98 to see IF it still random restarts. Hopefully it doesn't which means I don't have to redo the damn paste.................or maybe ill do it anyways.

1) Under ?Features Setup? in the BIOS disable the AC97 sound and modem.

2) If I remember right from the little I played with XP there is a setting that you can toggle to automatically reboot when a fatal exception error occurs or just leave the BSOD on the screen, (I went back to Win2K after trying XP for a week). In Win2k the setting is found in System Properties/Advanced/Startup and Recovery and there is a checkbox under System Failure, ?Automatically Reboots?. In XP I?m not sure where it is but you might try looking there first. From what you wrote I?m betting that there is nothing wrong with your hardware but you have a driver crashing and causing the system to reboot. (I had the same problem In W2K with SB 5.1 card until I got the drivers sorted out but I had to disble the auto reboot to figure out which driver was causing the problem)
