Just recently, most of my games have been acting odd. HL2 EP1 stopped working as it crashes on the load screen. Tom Clancy Rainbow Six Vegas crashes after a few minutes ingame. Sims 2 causes the monitor to turn of and on like its changing resolutions after about half an hour of gameplay etc...

Now I'm playing WC3 The frozen throne (one of the only games that actually works properly) and I've got the Rivatuner hardware monitoring screen up, everything seems ok (temps/clocks) and then when i alt tab out of the game the core clock goes from 425 (normal) to 11.32 (wtf?), however when i alt tab back into the game it goes back to 425... now is this normal? Even if it is... does anyone have an idea aboout why are all my games going haywire recently?

Edit: I forgot to mention its a 6800GS

Edit #2: clocks are 11.32 when just on desktop aswell (no game running)

ok looks like your windows might have already been corrupted.
dont know the reason but can probably be solved by uninstalling the driver, running driver cleaner in safe mode, then reinstalling.
if that doesn't work you might just need a complete reformat and reinstallation of windows and drivers

Try to go back to driver 84.21 or 81.98.
If those doesn't work you either got some maleware/spyware messing things up or Windows have got corrupted.

Could also be motherboard or soundcard drivers but I doubt it.
Next thing is hardware and heat, your graphics card, how hot and does the fan work ok, do you have a lot of dust (one of the main computer killer) how hot is the CPU.
Could be that the RAM is giving up on you.

You just have to try one thing after another.

That suggest it is your main memory (system ram)
Try removing all memory sticks and re-seat them again. If that doesn't work remove all but one memorystick and see if the problem is still there. Then switch to another memory stick and test that one. Should let you find out which stick is bad.

Could also be the hard drive or a corrupted windows so a full format and reinstall might be a good idea. If windows installation looks up or crashes it is very likely one of the memory sticks.

Tested memory with memtest86 with 8 passes and had no errors.. do I still have to open the pc up and check the ram or can I say that the ram is fine?

The HD actually had a bad sector but it disappeared one day (my dad says that the HD has some 'spare' space which it can remove the bad sector with) and it doesnt have any anymore.

The windows installation is only 3 months old :(

It should be ok if it passes memtest but nothing is certain, my guess is the memory is ok though.
Looks like you are looking at a format and windows reinstall then I'm afraid.
Just a thought, have you added any new hardware or USB stuff lately, if so they may be what's causing your problem.
