Thats an Inspiron 8500/8600

Try to remove the display connector and put it back firmly. btw.... the connector is under the power button, you ll have to remove the top blue strip ...

It's an 8600.... would that void my warranty?

No.. not unless you break it ...

Send it back to Dell??? WTF are you thinking??? SEll it on Ebay as a rare, one of a kind, possesed Dell (as is of course). Triple your money, buy another new one and split the profit with me for having to give your dumb a$$ directions.

Sheesh....

Sheesh....

LOL, sell it as the special 'psychedelic' edition. 😀

Looks like I'll be giving Dell a call soon... 🙁 When you send it back do they send you the same one back and just fix the monitor or whatever? I'm asking because I want to know if I need transfer my whole hard drive to a backup... maybe Ghost it. Stinks because I just got everything just the way I like it.

Everytime I've ever seen those lines on a laptop, the video adaper or the cable going from the LCD to the video was damged.

Usually when you ship to dell, you remove your hd and memory sticks. Depending on whats wrong with it.

Sweet! Plasma effect!

I've worked on a good deal of LG.Philips lcd screens and have never seen them do that. From my experience, I wouldn't think it would be the input connection, but more likely the power inverter (Text). If it only happens during poweroff, and displays perfectly fine while on, I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's kinda cool.
