so i do a hard reboot as a part of general maintenance and i get bsod "internal power error".

eventually system wont even get to bios boot.

i clean the case out looking for trouble signs, unplug everything but the gpu, couple of soft boots and bios loads up.
reconnect hd and windows boot options come up. boot normally just repeats the error.

eventually i get to win repair and do a memory scan, comes up fine.

soft boot and os options come up and i try safe mode. fails/stalls at aswbidsha.sys

soft boot and while i was debating which safe mode to try it does a normal boot on its own. now everything works?! os boots fine.

im about to build a new system with new parts but wtf windows. im assuming something is failing but the m/b uses solid caps so no bulges.

it works for now and i wont be using it that much longer, but i wouldnt mind knowing why this happened. any thoughts?

If you use Hibernation, look into its setting and health (I.e., switch off the Hiber. let it boot and if Ok switch it on again).

Can also be a Video card and its drivers problem when it Boots.

That .sys file is an Avast sys file. The power issue, sure that that's not an Asus mobo BIOS error, about "power (something)"? They have sensors in BIOS that monitor voltages, and if they get too out of spec, they will indicate a "power error" on next bootup, after shutting down.

Might look into replacing PSU, or testing a new one.

Edit: What motherboard / CPU / platform, and do you have an Asus mobo, and what brand / model / wattage PSU, and what age is it?

I did a search for "Asus Motherboard internal power error", and this was the first thread that popped up:
https://hardforum.com/threads/offic...em-with-internal-pll-voltage-enabled.1579942/

Not sure if that has any relevance to your issue or not.

its an asus p5e vm, sleep power resume has never been an issue. there has been some wonkyness with a dvd burner not being detected.
