What the #%@& is Bonzai Buddy and why does it keep showing up?

This piece of dung URL pointer shows up on my desktop and in my start menu trying to get me to install their product. I have deleted it multiple times and a few days later, there it is again. It's worse than the voyeur camera pop-up ads on the web.

I don't even care what their product does, it's a lousy way to market.

Anyone know how they are getting the URL pointer on my system?

if i remember, that came with audiogalaxy. if ya dont' need it, uninstall ag. otherwise, erase it all off, and then everytime before you go onto ag, try increasing your security settings, then reduce when done.

Bonzai Buddy is a little jerk that is actually spyware. Somebody using your computer fell for one of their thousands of banner ads that say "You have 1 message waiting for you!" that flashes ten times a second. When you see that ad, just scroll your screen down a tab or two so that the ad is hidden and it don't distract you anymore.

Spy ware if you dont know, is a method that these companies use to harvest info from your computer, telling them where you go on the net, and all kinds of other demographics. That info is sold to the highest bidder.

Comet Cursor is another one. There are probably several of them. Tricky devils too - they install automagically when you click on a banner ad.

The program has to be uninstalled like any other

Thanks for the Adaware tip. Fortunately, only a link to the Bonzai URL has shown up on my system, not the actual program, and I've never double-clicked the little *$(%.

Some of the popup ads even use the "x" in the upper right corner as the click-thru. Right-clicking on the start bar and choosing close is safer. Amazing how cunning they can be.

I'm now using Popup Stopper, another great utility, so hopefully he won't get through this time.
