what the hells with my modem?

ok, i recently had to format my hdd and when i reinstalled everything, my interenet had been slow as a slug!!! I got kicked off of aol like every 5 minutes and on netzero, it disonnects very frequently also.i have 56k modem.
what is going on?

do you have the correct drivers installed for the modem...? look for updated ones on your manufacturer's site

i installed the oem drivers that came with my dell

i have no idea who makes it, its a lucent modem, but doesn't lucent only supply the technology?

yep, look for the product number on the back (look on stickers and just copy any numbers that might be it...) just do a search on the net for it... i guess if you post that i can see if i can find them for you... but it would probably be quicker for you to do it yourself...

If you can find the 5.75 version of Lucent's drivers best to use them over the 5.90 version
the modem is much stabler w/ them

i downloaded the 5.75 drivers, uninstalls the com port and the modem,and it starts installing the drivers, installes halfway and disapears, then there is no drivers.modem or com port installed, i tryed restarting the system recongnize it, but i had to take out the modem and put it back in so the comp will notice it?
Whats going on?
