I go on my computer this afternoon and realize my internet connection is really slow (especially for cable). So I check napster, and see some guy downloading about 40 songs at 2+KB/s each from me. He's download about 400 from me since god knows when, and he's still at it. I thought it was about to end, but now he just started downloading another fourty. I'm tempted to cancel, but its not like I'm doing much else with my bandwidth anyway. Has this happened to anyone else?

All I do is limit the users that are allowed to d/l (2 at a time). If someone is leeching at an incredibly slow rate, I will cancel their downloads: especially if it is lagging my computer considerably.

That happened to me before. I just exited Napster. I don't like people who abuse my precious bandwidth (I also have an FTP running 24/7, so I need to save all the Bandwidth I can spare).

I'm sorry, guys, but this just made me laugh.

Reading this thread comes across like "I'm upset when people use me to steal music. I want to steal music from others, but I don't want people doing it from me."

Kind of hypocritical, wouldn't you say?

I'm not upset that people are getting it from me, I just think its weird the guy was downloading all of my mp3s.

You must have had a lot that he wanted, and had a decent connection compared to the others he saw. I'd never use Napster to download entire albums, I use it to get single songs that I want but don't want to go out and buy the entire album for that one song, or to get a song I want to hear right then, and may go get the album later.

hey AlphaIVT I have the same 'problem' (not that I care really, heh, but I think it's your duty to share files or Napster wouldn't exist), which router do you use? I got a Cisco 677, and I have ADSL.

okay, how can you make napster not share files? I've made a directory seperate from the download dir., and put one mp3 in there, and edited the id3 and filename to some funky random gibberish no one would ever search for or download, and set up napspter to only share that 1 directory with 1 file, but it always ends up sharing my download folder too! :|
