<< The Israeli government, under Sharon, has also broken its share of peace agreements, the Oslo accord being one of them. Shadowhunter, how about you get your facts straight:
Responding to a question from an ultra-Orthodox Jewish newspaper about the validity of the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations that began in Norway in 1993, Mr Sharon, leader of the right-wing Likud party, said: "The Oslo accord is an agreement that no longer exists. Period.
It seems that the current attitude in US politics has been along the lines of: "They didn't agree to our demands so we'll carpet bomb their entire country." Don't get me wrong here, I despise terrorism, but there must be better alternatives (special forces, etc.). This entire operation in Afghanistan has been for show and the chances of us capturing Osama are negligible; it's only effects, besides getting rid of the Taliban and killing a lot of people, have been to make the average Joe Six-Pack happy. >>
The Likud party just didn't say, "well forget the Palestinians! We want war!" They considered that accord dead because the way the Palestinians were treating it was a joke. I cant blame them.
Both sides have done less then great things, but IMHO the Israeli side has shown alot more tolerance and effort in a peace agreement the the Palestinians.
