well i may have found my overclocking/temp problems. cpu-z and speed fan both report my vcore between 1.272 and 1.34 but since its dancing up and down i can't get a definite read on it. this is also what it reads in the bios. but these cpu's are meant to run at 1.4v vcore so that would explain why my temps at idle would be 22c and 40c at full load. what do you guys think i should do to test this further. i am worried the motherboard may be reporting wrong and if i put it up to 1.4 kaboom.

Your problem is that ultra PSU. They are about as good as psu's as Yugo's were as cars.

edit: The only way to tell if it's your motherboard or your psu causing voltage fluctuations is to replace one of them. And more often than not, the motherboard causes the fluctuations.

Well, everyone will probably hop in and say your PSU is crap, but I dunno... it could be the PSU, the motherboard, or simply the monitoring program. Do you have any other systems or spare parts to swap in and out (say, try putting the PSU in a different computer or use a different motherboard) ?

EDIT: D'oh! He beat me to it! :D

ok well i don't have a psu to swap out, this psu won a bunch of awards so i figured it was good. plus at $100cdn i figured it would stand up. but could it be the mainboard? i mean is it being undervolted, thats what ineed to know really, cause if it is then i would just bump up the core where it should be. heres a review on the psu for those who may think its that

You could try to bump it just one notch and see if it stabilizes; it won't blow up instantly or anything, at the very worst.

EDIT: Oh, by the pic I see you're overclocking. Did it start before OCing or only afterward?
Also, horsies! :D Also, is that a cat typing on your computer?

Doh!, I didn't realize you had the new one, although, I guess nearly every one made for the last two years is an expensive paper weight now. I still don't like them (Ultra), but that one isn't a horrible psu. Besides, my MSI motherboard undervolts no matter my cpu's frequency, or vcore. Just raise your vcore by .10v, and see what happens. If it's too much, drop it by .05v.

ok well the thing with this board is it uses overvolting under the cell section so right now i have it looking like this CPU Overvolting [+25.0]Mv at stock its 12.5 and goes up25.0,37.5,50.0, and so on. i have never seen this before so its hard for me to know where to set it. am i right in saying this would explain the temps?

25Mv ... that would be a lot; I'm guessing it's 25mV. That's 0.025 V, so whatever the default is (1.2?1.3?) would be upped by that much, so, 1.225 or 1.325. Just move the decimal to the left three places. I think that was what you're asking (?).

43C looks fine to me; what's wrong with the temps? P-4s run pretty hot, although the 930 is a 0.65 process so it's cooler that the 800s.

EDIT: By a lot, I meant that 25Mv means megavolts - just a notation thing. 25 MILLIvolts over shouldn't be a problem...

i thought ideling at 20-22c for these things is just whacked considering the wattage they draw. and the fact that on another board i had it on said it was 55c at idle. an sorry about that i reversed my cap letters. so i could put this up to 37.5 or 50.0 no prob?

I honestly don't know. :) Maybe tomorrow some others with more experience with these chips can chime in. It does sound like your sensors are off, though, and I'm sure 37.5 or 50 wouldn't hurt anything; if it gets too hot, it'll shut down.

well thanks for your imput, i don't know these cpu's that well either i am an AMD person typically but i thought i would give these cpu a shot since they all seem to hit 4ghz.
