how is this highly technical? I would assume that blue face is a projection made from a projector in the club you were at.

if you look in the picture, the blue light pointing directly at the camera, while the face is projected on the opposite side (also facing the camera). the thing is obviously not powerful enough to be reflecting the image off something else (not so far as i would guess). plus, what kind of projector projects an image such as that: detailed but only one color. i dont think any spotlight could get the kind of detail that quickly and accurately, and why the hell would they project a face that looked like GWB anyway?

sorry to offend you, i thought this to be the best forum here to post this question. most questions on this forum have nothing to do with computers anyway. if you wish to move it to a better area, go ahead.

That is actually someone's face. the reason you only see the blue light is because it was reflecting off of his face into the camera 100% of the time.

why don't you see the rest of his head? well, when the flash went off of the camera the shutter closed before the light had a chance to return from reflecting off of that mans head. this is not HT.

step by step:

1. people arranged in the club
2. someone set up to take the picture
3. blue light is on, shining off of everything, reflecting off of that guy's face into the camera
3. camera flash goes off
4. camera light from the flash makes it to the front row of people
5. camera light reflects off of those people and is back at the camera. the other light that wasn't reflected back is still on its way FROM the camera
6. shutter closes and captures the reflected light from the front row of people and the blue light reflection from the background that was always shining.
7. flash from the camera reflects off of blue faced mans head and heads back toward the camera
8. light makes it back to camera but the shutter is closed.
9. your eyes register the light bouncing off of the mans head.

10. picture put on electronic format
11. non HT picture posted on ATHT
12. answer explained.

No offense taken at all. Title sounded ATOT. In any case, have you seen a laser show? They are pretty neat, and can project images like that. In any case, Cattlegod seems to have a good explaination. I dont know much about flash and shutter timings, so thats why i posed my projector idea.

my guess is that its just coincidence. if you look at the disco ball at the top center of the screen you can see that the blue light to the left is not the only blue light in the room. now saying that lights at a club are usually on the cieling, it would make sense the there is blue light above and to the right of the disco ball, where the light reflects off the disco ball and onto the girl in the background.

now notice the girl in the backgrounds hair. it is separated so that there is some in front of her shoulder and some behind it. the blue light is just in such an unusual place that it looks like the hair behind the girl's shoulder belongs to the blue face. i think its just coincidence.

cattlegod, your theory doesn't work because light travels so fast. even if you say the girl in the back is 10 meters round trip from the flash, the light from the flash would take 33 nano seconds round trip. shutters on cameras do not open for less than a fraction of a second. maybe like 1/1000, not really sure the fastest, but fast shutter speeds are only used for very bright scenes. this is obviously a dark scene and with a flash i think shutter speeds are usually about 1/30 or 1/60 of a second.

haha i feel like a csi

by the way, the girl in the front sure is a cute lil thang

Cattlegod, your answer is absurd. In a low light setting like that, the shutter couldn't be very fast. Light from the flash (if there was nothing in the way) could probably reach your bedroom from that club and bounce back to the camera before the shutter closed. The only way this could possibly happen is if the light was blocked (eg, by one of the ppl in the front of the picture), and for that reason it didn't reach the blue person.

Hey in Rochester (graduate of UR)...anyway, probably just a projection from the strobes. Her hair is shiny, so therefore, it picks up the reflected image. Pretty cool though!
